GCP helps protect the rights, safety, wellbeing, and privacy of participants while ensuring clinical trial data are accurate and reliable. 

In Australia, compliance with the ICH Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (ICH E6(R3)) is a regulatory requirement for clinical trials conducted under the TGA's Clinical Trial Notification (CTN) and Clinical TrialApproval (CTA) schemes, as the guideline is incorporated into Australian Law by reference into the Therapeutic Goods Regulations 1990. GCP training is therefore a requirement for clinical trial personnel involved in the conduct and oversight of research.
